Charlie Sheen signs on for 'Comedy Central Roast'

In what could be the worst idea in a history of bad ideas, Charlie Sheen has signed up for a Comedy Central Roast and told the network absolutely nothing is off limits.
clearpxl For the kind of skewering that's more recently been saved for the likes of Donald Trump, Joan Rivers and David Hasselhoff, Charlie Sheen is officially set to be the next roastee in a new special, the network announced Tuesday.
"The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen," taping on Saturday, Sept. 10, in Los Angeles, will feature the nation's top comedians taking aim at the major headline-making star.
"You could say I've been providing kindling for this Roast for a while," said Charlie Sheen. "It's time to light it up. It's going to be epic."
"Charlie has assured us that nothing will be off limits in this Roast... which scares even us," said Comedy Central original programming head Kent Alterman.
The only thing scarier would have been if they tried to pass off his "Violent Torpedo of Truth" as a stand-up comedy special.
"The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen" will air on Monday, Sept. 19, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

An opinion: casey anthony

Much has been made of Casey Anthony’s mental state as of late.

Now that she is alleging childhood sexual abuse at the hands of her father as the reason she took so long to report her daughter, Caylee, missing, her defense team further alleges that George Anthony was a witness to his granddaughter’s death and hid her body – both are claims that he denies.

As such, a lot of experts are calling ‘foul’ on Casey Anthony – some calling her a sociopath. A quick Google search for ‘Casey Anthony sociopath’ reveals 235,000 results. So what’s the story here?

One thing people with antisocial personality disorder, known as sociopaths, have in common with survivors of sexual abuse (which Casey claims to be) is lying.

But sociopaths lie to gain an advantage – to ‘con’ people, get out of trouble, manipulate, and gain power over others. A quick recap of Casey’s biggest lies to investigators and friends will attest to her deceitfulness, and her own trial defense admits that she had lied to investigators.

Psychiatry Online provides a reference to the diagnostic criteria for antisocial personality disorder. For right now, we can check off “deceitfulness,” leaving two more behaviors before we can consider Anthony a sociopath. But, as much I think trouble with the law is a given in this situation, let’s look at some other bahviors.

Can we say Anthony is without remorse? If she did kill her daughter, she has not shown any guilt – and in her jailhouse letters she plans RV trips for when she is no longer in trouble. If she did not kill her daughter, then wouldn’t she have expressed more guilt about leaving Caylee with the man she claims abused her? Check two.

Is Anthony irresponsible? Considering she is a high school drop-out that was unemployed and relied on her parents for financial support, perhaps she is. If the allegations that she used chloroform to make Caylee sleep are true, then she is definitely irresponsible as a parent. Check three.

In fact, that might also constitute “reckless disregard for safety of self or others.” Check four.

For a diagnosis, you only need three out of the five main symptoms. I’m not a psychologist, at least not yet, but I think there may be something to all the hype.

Trial Begins for Orlando Mom Casey Anthony Accused in Toddler's Murder

0 comments Monday, 9 May 2011
It all began with a phone call to police in July 2008 from the grandmother of 2-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony, who reported the toddler missing and said her daughter’s car smelled like a "dead body.”
Now, almost three years later, the child’s 25-year-old mother, Casey Anthony, is on trial for murder in a case that has captivated the American public.
Caylee was allegedly last seen by her grandmother, Cindy Anthony, on June 15, 2008, when she said the two visited a nursing home together. The toddler’s body was found six months later in swampy woods not far from the Orlando home she shared with her mother and grandparents – her tiny remains wrapped in a bag with a piece of duct tape found over the mouth of her skull.
Cindy Anthony reported the child as possibly missing to an Orange County Police dispatcher on July 15, 2008. Cindy asked that an officer be sent to her home to arrest her daughter for “stealing an auto” and money.
“I have someone here that I need to be arrested,” Cindy said in her first 911 call. “I have a possible missing child. I have a 3-year-old that’s been missing for a month.
A second, more distressed phone call followed about an hour later in which Cindy claimed Casey said the girl was taken by a baby sitter.
“My daughter finally admitted that the baby sitter stole her,” Cindy said. “I found my daughter’s car today and it smells like there’s been a dead body in the damn car.”
Casey allegedly told investigators that she dropped her daughter off with a baby sitter named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez on June 9, and never saw the two again. She said she didn’t notify police because she had been investigating the disappearance on her own and was scared, according to multiple press accounts.
But investigators say Casey fed them a string of lies from the beginning – like claiming she worked at Universal Studios when she didn't. Pictures later surfaced that purportedly showed the young mother partying in the days after she claimed her daughter went missing.
Police arrested Casey on July 16, 2008, for child neglect, giving false official statements and obstructing a criminal investigation.
