The finale to This season’s finale of American Idol, which crowned 17-year-old Scotty McCreery after tallying an unprecedented 122 million votes, included a number of guest performers, including Bono, The Edge and Reeve Carney singing “Rise Above” from “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” the Broadway musical set to open on June 14th.Near the end, another performer dressed as Spider-Man dropped from the ceiling, and Idol judge Jennifer Lopez started to take off his mask, apparently intending to kiss him, but she changed her mind.
Whatever else you can say about Spider-Man, 1. Reeve Carney is good-looking, 2. Bono is famous, 3. The show sure knows how to get publicity.
