Carlton is in tune for Epsom bid

And punters weren't slow on the uptake, forcing Ladbrokes to cut the Sir Michael Stoutetrained colt, winner of the Dante Stakes at York earlier this month and bidding to give the Queen a first-ever victory in the world's greatest Flat race, to 5-4 favourite (from 11-8) for his date with destiny.
John Warren, the Queen's racing manager, said yesterday: "He worked seven furlongs over the watered gallop.

"He stretched out really nicely, ridden by Ryan Moore, who was thrilled with the way he went.
"He's gone the right way since York and the trainer and jockey were very satisfied - it was very pleasing to watch.
"As far as I know that was his last serious piece of work before Epsom. It's very exciting."
