American Eagle reaches out to more of Mexico

While United/Continental’s Bush Houston Intercontinental hub continues to dominate service to smaller and mid-size Mexican cities, American Airlines is providing increasing competition out of Dallas/Fort Worth. That competition can mean better deals for flyers headed south.
Just this week American Eagle started a couple of new routes emanating from DFW: Dallas/Fort Worth flights to Mazatlan and Dallas/Fort Worth flights to Morelia. The former could be especially popular for those in search of comparatively unspoiled beaches and a laid-back vacation.
Southbound Dallas/Ft. Worth flights to Mazatlan depart American’s megahub at 11:45 a.m. daily, and arrive MZT at 1:05 p.m. Northbound Mazatlan flights to Dallas/Ft. Worth make a quick turn and depart at 1:55 p.m., arriving DFW at 5:20 p.m. That leaves ample time to connect to much of AA’s route network so you can get home before the end of the day.
Dallas/Ft. Worth flights to Morelia depart at 6:20 p.m. and arrive at 8:50 p.m. Morelia flights to Dallas/Ft. Worth leave at 6:45 a.m. and arrive DFW at 9:20 a.m.
Between them, American and American Eagle fly to 18 Mexican destinations. Many of those routes are out of DFW. In addition to Morelia and Mazatlan, other south of the border cities include Acapulco, Aguascalientes, Cancun, Chihuahua, Cozumel, Guadalajara, Leon (Guanajuato), Mexico City, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, San Luis Potosi, Queretaro, Torreon, Veracruz, and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo.
Continental and Continental Express fly to 30 Mexican destinations - the former with full-size jets, the latter with RJs
